Target Audience
This course is for practitioners who work with children and will be of particular interest to social care, health, education, youth services staff. It may also be of benefit to workers who have contact with parents with an interest in this topic.
Purpose of the course
There is increasing awareness of the need to safeguard children when they are using information and communications technology (ICT) this is a basic awareness course on the safeguarding implications (ICT) for practitioners working with children.
What does the course cover?
- Developments in ICT and children’s use of ICT
- Risks to children – social networking – cyber-bullying
- Adults, ICT and the sexual exploitation of children
- Who is responsible for safeguarding children and what are the most effective ways of doing this?
