Parental Mental Health and Children & Young People

This new course will use family models to provide participants with an insight into the issues facing children whose parents have a mental health problem.

Learning Objectives

  • Have increased awareness and understanding of mental health problems affecting adults
  • Be able to identify the impact that parental mental health has on the mental health of children
  • Establish what tier 1 staff can do to help families address the needs of children when one or more parents has a mental health problem
  • To identify ways that agencies can work together to support children, young people and families

Aimed at anyone working with children and families e.g. social workers, teachers and others working in education, nurses, health visitors, mentors, PA's, youth workers, police, CAFCAS, probation, voluntary and independent sector etc.
