Drug and Alcohol - Screening Assessment and Referral

This will enable staff that already have an awareness of substance use issues to screen, assess and refer their adult service users. (For the accredited ‘CPD in Substance Misuse’ please see qualifications section).

Available to: Staff employed by Bradford Council (Social Care), Bradford District Care Trust, Voluntary Agencies and Independent Sector Staff within Bradford - who come into contact with substance users but are not specialists in drug & alcohol issues

You must have have completed drug & alcohol Basic Awareness Course.

Learning Objectives:

  • Be able to raise the issue and interact using active listening skills.
  • Understand an integrated approach to screening and assessment.
  • Be able to decide what level of service is required and advise accordingly.
  • Be able to assess risk and make a decision as to how urgently that service is needed.
  • Know where to go for specialist help and how to access that help.
