Core Groups - Making them Work in a Child Protection Case

Will this course be useful to me in my job?

The course is designed for all those people who become involved in a Child Protection Case and who may be asked to become a member of a Core Group.

The aim is to “demystify” rules and procedures relating to Core Groups and show their value in a Child Protection Case.

Candidates will investigate how to prepare a Child Protection Plan and how to prepare for Child Protection Reviews through the use of a Case Study.

What does the course cover?

  • Core Groups – their use and value
  • Signs of “dangerousness” and dangerous partnerships which can affect the outcome of a CP case
  • Some lessons to be learned from Child Death Investigations in Bradford
  • The process of change
