Ability Awareness

To increase participants understanding of how disability affects people.

Aimed at: Bradford Council Social Care employed staff who work with individuals who have a disability. Voluntary Sector are also welcome.

Learning Objectives: By the end of the session participants will

  • Have an understanding of what is disability
  • Have an understanding of the medical and social model of disability
  • Be able to identify environmental and attitudinal barriers faced by disabled people.
  • Have increased knowledge in relation to the legal framework.
  • Understand the need to move to best practice approach.
