Supervision in Child and Family Practice (previously Staff Supervision in Social care parts 1 and 2)

This two day course will show you how to get the best out of your staff and improve the quality of our services to users through supervision.

Based on Tony Morrison’s 4 x 4 x 4 model of supervision in social care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Frameworks and theory to understand the process and tasks of supervision
  • Individual exercises to help you reflect on your supervision practice
  • Exercises to share with staff that will inform and enhance both supervision practice and positive team working
  • Strategies in working with staff who are 'blocked'
  • Identifying and responding to the emotional impact of practice on the worker

Aimed at: First Line Managers who:

  • Supervise staff in children and family support settings e.g. social work teams, family centres, children’s centres, residential and respite services, and supervising social workers in foster care.
  • Supervise staff working directly with vulnerable children and families, for example: SCMs, Team managers, Unit Managers, Deputies, Assistants and Senior Residential Practitioners, Practice Educators, and Supervising social workers.
