Practice Educator Training

A modular programme that will equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to teach social work students in line with the National Occupational Standards for Social Workers. Experienced practice educators are encouraged to ‘dip into’ the modules to update their skills and knowledge but it is advised that new practice teachers attend all of the modules.

The course will be based on information giving and group discussions. The trainers recognise that participants will bring transferable skills to the training. Participants are expected to share their skills and experiences, in order to develop their own practice and that of their colleagues. Participants are expected to take on the role of practice teacher and should discuss this with their line manager.

The demand for social work placements is high and, in an attempt to meet that demand for placements and practice teachers, the course runs three times during the year. The modules cover a range of aspects of practice teaching. Please see separate sections below for module descriptors and dates.

Aimed at: Social workers (In Bradford) who are supporting student social workers.

Target Staff:
Five days training aimed at practitioners who will be taking Social Work Students.
