Disabilities - Introduction Understanding And Management Of Epilepsy

Course Overview:
To raise awareness/understanding of epilepsy and management of the needs/issues within their work environments

Objectives:
At the completion of the course, participants will have the ability to:

  • Understanding What Epilepsy is
  • Be aware of the causative factors (Aetiology) of epilepsy
  • Identify how Epilepsy is diagnosed and the seizure types
  • Be aware the terminology associated with Epilepsy
  • Identify risk factors (environmental/personal) related to the condition.
  • Understand how we can develop practical strategies/management to reduce the risks and help formulate personal planning
  • Respond effectively to a seizure, including first aid management
  • Describe the treatment regimes for epilepsy

The above programme is flexible to meet specific needs as they arise and will be delivered in a range of formats, including, formal presentations, discussion, group work, demonstration and experimental/practical activity.
