ICS and Civica Training Programme

The ICS and Civica Training Programme has now been expanded to cover more role-specific areas of ICS. We will now be running 4 separate courses as below.

*You are not required to compete all 4 weeks of the Training Programme. Just book on to the week(s) that apply to your role.*

ICS & Civica Induction (New Starters)

This course will run every couple of weeks and is aimed at New Starters within Services to Children & Young People. Staff who have recently moved roles or have just returned from a period off work can also attend.

It will cover:

  • Brief Introduction to Social Care Resources
  • What is ICS?
  • How to Navigate around the System
  • Managing your Workload
  • Getting Started back in your Workplace
  • Further Help, Support & Information
  • Introduction to Civica

Pre-Requisites: All trainees will need to have a system login created prior to attending the course. New Starters must have completed the Induction course prior to attending this.

ICS Week One - Initial Assessment and Child In Need (CIN) Processes, including Core Assessments

This course will run about once every 8 weeks and is aimed at anyone who needs to know about Initial Assessments, Child In Need Processes and Core Assessments.

It will cover:

  • Initial Assessments
  • Active Initial Plan - Actions
  • Child In Need Plan
  • Child In Need Review
  • Linking Siblings (inc. Copying Forward)
  • Core Assessments
  • Reassigning and Picking Up Tasks
  • Case Notes (inc. significant events and case note alerts)
  • Chronologies
  • Adding Key Agencies
  • Updating Health & Education Information
  • Updating Demographic Information
  • Maintaining Relationship Information
  • Printing Forms and Printable Views
  • Closing Cases - Case Closure Information inc. File Retention

Pre-Requisites: All trainees will need to have a system login created prior to attending the course. New Starters must have completed the Induction course prior to attending this.

ICS Week Two - Section 47s and Child Protection Processes, including making a Child Looked After

This course will run about once every 8 weeks and is aimed at anyone who needs to know about Section 47s, Child Protection Processes and making a Child Looked After.

It will cover:

  • Strategy Meetings (inc. follow up if required)
  • Section 47 Investigation
  • Initial Child Protection Conference
  • Core Group Meetings
  • Linking Siblings (inc. Copying Forward)
  • Child Protection Reviews (inc. how to trigger these)
  • Updating Child Protection Plans
  • Active Child Protection Plan - Actions
  • Beginning the Child Looked After Process
  • Case Notes (inc. significant events and case note alerts)
  • Chronologies
  • Adding Key Agencies
  • Updating Health & Education Information
  • Updating Demographic Information
  • Maintaining Relationship Information
  • Printing Forms and Printable Views

ICS Week Three - Child Looked After, including Short Breaks and Leaving Care Processes

This course will run about once every 8 weeks and is aimed at anyone who needs to know about the Child Looked After processes.

It will cover:

  • Child Looked After Short Breaks
  • Child Looked After Full Time
  • Period of Child Looked After - Actions
  • Child Looked After Reviews (inc. Short Break Reviews)
  • Updating Care Plans
  • Addresses (Temporary, Primary, Secondary, Care, etc)
  • Placement Information Records
  • PEPs (Personal Education Plans) - e-PEPs
  • Pathway Plans (inc. re-categorising needs)
  • Pathway Plan Reviews
  • Missing from Child Looked After
  • Leaving Child Looked After (inc. moving to a Child In Need Plan)
  • Case Notes (inc. significant events and case note alerts)
  • Chronologies
  • Adding Key Agencies
  • Updating Health & Education Information
  • Updating Demographic Information
  • Maintaining Relationship Information
  • Printing Forms and Printable Views
