Early Child Development (Foundation) e-Learning

The aim of this module is to increase awareness of the main issues around child development. By giving you a better understanding of the key issues you will be able to develop your work in a way that improves outcomes for children and their parents and carers.

Having completed the module you will:

  • Have a basic awareness of, and be able to describe, the main theoretical concepts linked to child development
  • Be able to evaluate information relating to the physical, intellectual, linguistic social (including sexual) and emotional development of children and young people
  • Recognise the factors that may affect development and how early development impacts on future resilience and vulnerability factors in adolescence
  • Explore attachment to identify the way in which children develop secure relationships with their carers
  • Consider effective practice in relation to child development

The packages can be accessed via any computer that has broadband internet access. You can dip in and out of the modules and your progress will be saved by the system. Upon successful completion of the training you will be able to print a certificate. Workforce Development will monitor completions.

To gain access to the e-learning you will require a username and password which will be issued by Workforce Development. You need to seek the permission of your line manager before requesting access to this training.
