Disabilities - An Introduction to Down Syndrome and Complex Health

Training session for those who want to develop their knowledge in supporting children and young people with Down Syndrome and complex health.

Morning session:

  • What Down Syndrome is, including society's image of people with Down Syndrome
  • Health issues that may affect development
  • Ideas on teaching methods and inclusion - making instructions visual, making learning hands on

Afternoon session:

  • The role of the Children's Community Specialist Services
  • Valuing parents as expert carers
  • Complex health needs: how it impacts on family life
