Training session for those who want to develop their knowledge in supporting children and young people with Down Syndrome and complex health.
Morning session:
- What Down Syndrome is, including society's image of people with Down Syndrome
- Health issues that may affect development
- Ideas on teaching methods and inclusion - making instructions visual, making learning hands on
Afternoon session:
- The role of the Children's Community Specialist Services
- Valuing parents as expert carers
- Complex health needs: how it impacts on family life
