Promoting Direct Payments

Direct Payments are fundamental to achieving the Governments aim of increasing people's independence, choice and control.

Care Managers/Social Workers are the key to the success of Direct Payments and the course will provide an understanding of the procedures involved and how Direct Payments can be a positive way of providing care packages/services to children and adults.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand the purpose of Direct Payments
  • To understand who is eligible for Direct Payments and how they would apply
  • To understand the process including Care Management and the Support Teams roles
  • Changes in legislation introduced September 2009
  • How Direct Payments fit in with the Personalisation agenda

Aimed at: Assessment and Care management staff (including Care Trust Staff).
