Moving and Handling Awareness and Risk Assessing

Aimed at: Bradford Social Care - Care Management Staff, Social Workers and Community Care Officers.

This is a one day course following completion of a Moving and Handling E-learning module

E-Learning Aims and Objectives

Aims:

Improve awareness of current and relevant legislation
To establish an understanding of manual handling issues in relation to their own working environment
To introduce the concept of risk assessments

Objectives:

To provide an understanding of current and relevant legislation
To raise awareness of the manual handling regulations and the implication for a safe system of work
To raise an awareness for the need for suitable and sufficient risk assessments

One day course Aims and Objectives

Aims:

To provide staff with the ability to implement a safe system of work within their working environment
To provide staff with the knowledge, skills, competence and confidence to assess, manage and reduce risk within their working environment
To reinforce the need to develop and maintain good manual handling practice within Bradford community.

Objectives:

Provide staff with sufficient skills and knowledge to implement a robust risk assessment process
Enhance existing abilities to address manual handling issues arising in their working environment
Improve awareness of biomechanics and causes of back pain
Consider the impact of ergonomic interventions in relation to risk assessments and problem solving
Provide staff with sufficient skills and knowledge to perform good manual handling practice with the ability to share that information
