Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

Aimed at:
Adult & Community Services employees only. Adult Services Care Managers and Community Care Officers, Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Objectives:

  • Understand the main principles of the Mental Capacity Act and the relation to practice.
  • Practice defining capacity and the assessment of capacity using 'live' case study example.
  • Understand your role as 'decision maker' in the 'best interest' of service users.
  • Understand DoLS and the role of the Best Interests Assessor.
