Recording In Safeguarding Adults Work
Objectives
It is extremely difficult to recognise adult abuse for many different reasons; for example the victim may be protecting the abuser or s/he be too frightened to speak out. Therefore, it is important for a worker to learn about the signs and symptoms of abuse so that they are aware of possible changes in behaviour and situations. The course will cover:
- Who can be a victim
- Who abuses
- Where abuse happens
- Why abuse happens
- Indicators of abuse
- Checklists and protocols
- Monitoring and recording
- Reporting to the appropriate agency/team
Participation
A variety of training methods will be used. Participants will be expected to engage in exercises undertaken either individually or in groups (large and small).
PLEASE NOTE - This is a very practice-based course so participants will be expected to engage in group discussion and practical exercises (to be carried out in pairs and small groups). Abuse is a very emotional issue and some participants may find the subject matter difficult. Ground rules will be set to help participants feel safe.
