Introduction to Mental Health Law
This course offers an introduction to the main provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983 and related practice issues.
Learning Objectives:
- To identify and, where appropriate, apply the main provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983.
- Understand the rights of service users and nearest relatives under the Act.
- Examine the impact of the Human Rights Act on mental health law, and the main changes to be introduced by the Mental Health Act 2007
Aimed at: CPNs, ward nurses, junior doctors, residential and community support workers, non-ASW Social Workers, Care Managers or any other staff needing a basic knowledge of mental health law.
