Children’s Centres offer integrated education, care, family and health to support families with a child under 5 years of age.
There are 41 Centres in the district, 6 are Children's Centre Plus which offer extra support to families with children who have additional needs.
Your local Children’s Centre may offer the following activities:
- Baby massage or yoga
- Cook and eat sessions
- Toddler groups, stay and play sessions
- Outings and trips
- Home visits
- Parenting classes
- Dad and baby groups
- Early education for 2 year olds

Making a Referral
If you are a parent, carer or a professional working with a family you can simply fill in a referral form and send it to your nearest Children's Centre. Your local centre will then be able to contact you with useful information and support.
Changes to children’s centres - why are we making changes?
The needs of Bradford’s families are changing and at the same time, funding from Central Government is reducing. This is putting a lot of pressure on your services and means we need to make changes to ensure that Bradford’s children’s centres remain sustainable and able to keep supporting children and families, particularly those who need it the most.
Last year we proposed that our 41 existing children’s centres would become:
- 8 core centres that led the work of 14 other linked centres
- 19 centres in the most deprived areas of the district would be left as stand alone centres
We’re now planning to make some changes to the original proposal in response to what you told us. More details of these changes are outlined in the Changes to Children's Centres leaflet below.
A number of events have been planned between July and October 2014 to give people an opportunity for feedback on these changes. A timetable of these events is available below.
Children's Centre Consultation
During the summer of 2013 we carried out a review of children’s centres and gathered a wide range of opinions. The consultation findings are summarised in the reports below.
