How local business and employers can benefit from childcare

If you are running a business then this is the page for you! There are distinct business benefits in helping your staff with their childcare.

Family friendly policies

Recruiting and retaining good staff is critical for business success. With parents representing almost 40% of the UK workforce, family friendly policies and quality and affordable childcare are important to employers and employees alike. See our Family Friendly Policy page on this site for more information.

Mobile Crèche

Have you considered offering childcare facilities for staff meetings, conferences, training courses and away days? The Roundabout Mobile Crèche is part of the Bradford Early Years & Childcare Service and offers childcare in appropriate venues throughout Bradford. Our crèches are suitable for:

  • Business meetings
  • Community activities
  • Conferences
  • Courses
  • Parental support programmes
  • Training days

We can cater for children 0-5 years (0-16 years during school holidays) and provide staff and play resources.

Childcare Vouchers

From 6 April 2005, a new tax incentive was introduced to allow employers to help staff with their childcare costs. This new incentive allows employers to pay up to £50 a week towards approved childcare (includes Ofsted registered childminders) for each parent with a child aged up to 15 (16 with special needs). This can be paid either directly to the childcare provider or in the form of childcare vouchers (used by parents to pay their childcare provider). The value of this benefit is exempt from both tax and National Insurance Contributions.

Criminal Records Bureau checks

The Early Years, Childcare & Play is registered with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) to process Disclosure Applications on behalf of external organisations. The process is entirely confidential and in accordance with Data Protection legislation and the CRB Code of Practice. Disclosure certificates are normally issued within four weeks of an application. Checks cost £45 for paid employees but are free for volunteers (according to the CRB definition) working in a childcare-related field.
