Early years, childcare and play are essential in the early development of children and young people.

The five Every Child Matters outcomes that we are working to achieve for every child are:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution to society
- Achieve economic well-being.
We work closely with partners across early education, childcare and play to deliver national and local priorities. We promote and support the development of high quality childcare, early years and play provision, offering equality of opportunity and access for all.
- Early Years: We work closely with all Early Years providers, offering support, advice and training to ensure that they can provide your child with the best possible early education and care. More information for Workers.
- Children's Centres: 41 Children’s Centres have been established in the Bradford district, offering integrated services for children aged 0-5, and their families - bringing together early education, childcare, health and family support for the 0-5’s. For more information, visit our Children's Centres section.
- Childcare Choices: Our aim is to provide greater childcare choices for parents, so that they can balance work commitments and family life as well as enabling parents to access training and work. For more information, see our Childcare and Early Education section.
- Play: We also take an active role in producing the district's Play Strategy 'All to Play For' and for ensuring that play is embedded through-out the district. See our Play section for more details.
