Crisis Care
What is Crisis Care?
Crisis Care is a short-term emergency service for young people in crisis. Emergency overnight or weekend placements are offered to young people aged 11-16 with approved foster carers.
The aim of the service is to prevent young people from coming into full-time care by providing a safe and caring family placement within their own communities increasing the chances of them being returned to their families quickly.
How does it work?
Young people referred to the Crisis Care Scheme are placed overnight or for the weekend with approved foster carers who offer care and support in the carers’ own homes. This allows social workers time to work with the young person and their families to resolve difficulties in order to affect a return to home.
The young person will have their own room and will be treated as part of the family. It is an immediate response to a family crisis.
