Mission Statement

To provide an accessible, secure and high performing benefits service that recognises and meets the needs of the local community and contributes to its overall welfare.

The Benefits Service Vision

  • Maximise the take up of benefits, grants and loans for the people of Bradford, within the terms of the schemes.
  • Assess claims accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Make the service easier to access in order to encourage take-up in line with the Council's social inclusion and equality policy objectives.
  • Ensure efficient administration and recover overpayments, where appropriate, to provide value for money.
  • Ensure the benefit grant and loan system is secure by preventing, deterring, detecting and acting against fraud.
  • Maximise the participation in higher education.
  • Minimise barriers to work.
  • Help the people of Bradford to live in decent housing.
  • To work with partners to achieve the mission statement.
