People predominantly over 65 who require 24 hour residential or nursing care in a care home.
What is residential or nursing care?
Residential care homes provide the type of care a caring relative could give. This can include help with washing, dressing, feeding and help with day to day activities.
Nursing homes cater for those who have general care needs and also require input or supervision from qualified nurses. This can include those with specific or complex health needs

Residential and nursing homes are part of a range of care services available to older people across the district.
When are they available?
Moving into a residential or nursing home is normally done with involvement from the Council's Adult & Community Services Department.
Where are they?
There are over 130 residential and nursing homes across the Bradford Metropolitan District.
How do I access the service?
The Council currently has a Care Services Directory which lists all registered care homes across the whole of the district.
Who provides it?
The Council distribute the directory, which is available at local information points and most doctors’ surgeries.
How do they help?
The directory provides information on where homes are located, contact details, information relating to the cost of going into care, and a helpful checklist of questions to ask if you are visiting a residential or nursing home.

Is there a charge?
There are different charges for residential and nursing care. How much you will be charged will be calculated following an individual financial assessment.
Can I get help with the cost?
A benefit check is completed as part of the financial assessment to ensure you receive all the benefits you are entitled to.
