What is extra care housing?
Extra care housing is self-contained housing for frail older people. People will have their own front doors, with care and support on site. It is a popular choice among older people because it can sometimes provide an alternative to a care home.

Sheltered housing, residential care and nursing homes, community alarm services, home care and housing related support services.
When are they available?
There are seven extra care housing schemes in the Bradford district which have been developed by the Council working in partnership with registered social landlords.

The schemes are located throughout the district.

There are seven different schemes in the Bradford district, managed by five housing providers.
Extra care housing schemes:
- Dove Court & Woodside Court are managed by Hanover.
- Mary Seacole Court & Stavely Court are managed by Housing 21.
- Rowanberries is managed by MHA Care Group.
- Hallcroft is managed by Anchor.
- Grove House is managed by Abbeyfield Ilkley Society Ltd.
How do they help?
Extra care housing can provide a real alternative to residential care for older people who value their independence, by providing self contained housing with support and care onsite. Extra care services often include a restaurant or dining room, health and fitness facilities, hairdressers, hobby rooms, communal facilities and onsite shops.
