Protection Plan

Everyone

  • A protection plan is the multi-agency plan that is made to stop the abuse or neglect that has occurred or to keep the risk of abuse or neglect at a level that is acceptable to the person being abused or neglected
  • It is also a plan to support anyone who has been abused or neglected to recover from that experience. The protection plan is usually made at a protection plan meeting
Actions that can be part of protection plans
  • Each agency that has carried out part of the risk assessment should present their report as to the extent and causes of any abuse or neglect
  • The protection plan meeting decides what abuse or neglect has taken place and what the level of risk is. It makes a protection plan based on what has been found about what abuse has taken place, how much harm it has caused, what caused it and whether there is an ongoing risk of the abuse or neglect taking place
Actions that can be part of protection plans
  • The meeting appoints a protection plan co-ordinator to oversee the plan and call an early review if needed
  • The meeting decides when the plan will be reviewed
  • If a protection plan meeting is not needed the APRAC will organise a protection plan discussion.
