Tip top dance class

People can tap dance their way to improved fitness and wellbeing with a brand new class.

Bradford Council has launched a weekly tap dancing class that aims to promote coordination, flexibility and strength. It will also help participants to build their confidence in a fun, social environment.

The classes, which are aimed at people aged 16 years and above, will run at Baildon Recreation Centre every Thursday from 6-7pm. They will cost £3.80 per person, per session. Previous experience is not necessary.

Tap dancing helps to build strength in the legs and feet. It also increases flexibility in the hips, knees and ankles as well as developing a great sense of rhythm and timing.

Ian Bairstow, Bradford Council's Strategic Director for Environment and Sport, said: "Tap is a fun style of dance that has a wide range of health and fitness benefits as well as being a fantastic social activity.”

The classes will be taught by qualified teacher Francine Jackson from Dance 4 Life, which is a Bradford based project that seeks to improve young people's health and wellbeing through dance.

For further information about the classes please call Baildon Recreation Centre on 01274 599245 or Dance 4 Life on 01274 431883.
