People from all different backgrounds are coming together to take on the Big Challenge in Bradford Council's parks.
The Big Challenge has been organised by the Bradford Stronger Communities Partnership together with the Fieldfare Trust as a fun way of bringing different people together through carrying out team challenges in an outdoor setting.
The Partnership between Bradford Council and voluntary and community organisations aims to forge stronger communities and Fieldfare aims to encourage disabled people and other disadvantaged groups to enjoy the countryside more.
Coun Imran Hussain, Deputy Leader of Bradford Council, said: "The Big Challenge is all about fun! It is about bringing people together from all different backgrounds, ages and experiences to learn something new and make new friends.
"Each challenge is a problem solving exercise set in one of our beautiful parks. What is great about it, is that everyone qualifies. Whether you are older, younger, disabled or not, the Big Challenge will work for you! It is a really good way of developing respect and understanding among us all."
There will be five teams of eight who will carry out five half-hour challenges. Team members will be drawn out of a hat and everyone within the team will have a role to play. The team that involves everybody and supports all of its members are the most likely to win their heat.
There will be five heats altogether which take place in Lister Park in Heaton on Monday, August 15, and Tuesday, August 16, Roberts Park in Saltaire on Wednesday, August 17, and Thursday, August 18, with the final heat taking place at Cliffe Castle in Keighley, on Friday, August 19. Each heat will start at 10am and finish by 3pm.
The winner of each heat will go through to the final of the Big Challenge which will take place on Saturday, October 1, at Nell Bank Outdoor Activity Centre in Ilkley.
There are still places available for some of the heats. If you would like to book a place on the Big Challenge contact Darryl Smith on 01274 434171.
