Partners in Fagley are coming together to put on an event promoting jobs, training and work experience opportunities in the area.
The 'Opportunity Knocks' event will be held on Tuesday, 6 December from 11am to 2pm at Fagley Youth and Community Centre in Fagley Road, and has been organised by Bradford East Area Co-ordinator's Office and Fagley Children's Centre.
Organisations including Bradford Council's Skills for Work, Job Centre Plus, Incommunities, Army Careers, Forster Community College and University of Bradford will attend, along with local recruitment and training agencies.
Fagley Youth Centre and Bradford Motor Education Project will also be present to promote volunteering opportunities, along with advisers on childcare, enterprise and developing CV writing and interview skills.
The event will also survey local people on whether there is a demand in the area for regular support by setting up a Work Club.
Coun Imran Hussain, Deputy Leader of Bradford Council said: "Anything we can do to tackle the issue of unemployment, particularly youth unemployment, in the area will be a great benefit to the community as a whole."
Ward Councillor Coun Ann Wallace said: "In a difficult economic situation nationally we need to make every effort locally to increase the chances for people to get jobs, education, training, work experience and guidance.
"We hope as many people as possible will take advantage of the opportunities on offer."
The Fagley Partnership is meeting again after a break, in order to identify links and priorities for the area, and to support new work at Fagley Youth Centre, including the Beaumont Park food growing project. The partnership is co-ordinated by Bradford East Area Co-ordinator's office.
