New play area in Canterbury

The Lord Mayor of Bradford will officially open a new play area at Nurser Place in Canterbury.

The new play area for under 5s includes a slide, swings, climbing frame, springers, and a balancing trail.

To encourage active citizenship within the ward, a group of children from the Canterbury Nursery School and Centre were engaged in the consultation process during the design phase.

The Lord Mayor, Coun Naveeda Ikram, will officially open the area on Tuesday, 19 July at 2pm. A number of youngsters from Canterbury Nursery School and Centre will be present at the ceremony.

The Lord Mayor will then enjoy light refreshments at Canterbury Nursery School and Centre, where she will be joined by representatives from the nursery, Bradford East Area Co-ordinator's Office, Landscape Design, and partners from Incommunities.

The Lord Mayor said: “We hope the children will have lots of fun in their new play area and that it will provide a great asset now and well into the future.”

The £25,000 play area has been funded by local ward councillors through their share of Bradford Council’s Ward Investment Fund and Incommunities. The housing association will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the play area.
