New children's centres to open
Hundreds of children and parents are being invited to fun days to mark the official openings of several new children's centres for under fives.
Among activities on the day will be outdoor play, face painting, balloon modelling, crafts and drinks and snacks.
Coun Ralph Berry, Bradford Council's executive member for children and young people, will be busy opening three new centres this Saturday. (2nd July)
He will open Treetops - designed as a tree house on stilts - in Rawdon Road, Haworth at 10.30 pm, then Daisy Chain in Elliot Street next to Silsden Health centre at 12 noon and Little Lane in Ilkley at 1.30pm.
Coun Berry said: "I am looking forward to visiting these new venues which provide a lovely environment for the under fives to learn through play and feedback from parents shows they are delighted with the centres.
"I hope parents and local people will go along to these fun days to see what is on offer from the Council for their little ones."
Later in the month, on July 23rd, Coun Berry will open a children's centre at St Margaret's Church, Shipley Fields Road at 1.30pm.
There are 41 children's centres in the district now funded through Bradford Council. They provide a whole host of services to all families with under fives including family support; health services including ante and post natal provision; breastfeeding support; smoking cessation; early years activities and employment and training advice.
- Shipley Children's Centres will be holding their annual family fun day in Roberts Park on Thursday July 28 from 10 am to 1 pm. There will be numerous stalls and activities including face painting, team games, hand massage for mums, fruit-kebab making, and much more.
