Well-known carols are performed by the Bradford Cathedral Choir and Opus 44.
The Cathedral Choir is celebrating the release of a new CD entitled "A very Yorkshire Christmas" which features seasonal pieces by Yorkshire composers and has a cover picture of choristers standing next to the Cow and Calf rocks on Ilkley Moor.
Among the musical items the choir sings on the CD is a version of "While shepherds watched their flocks by night" sung to 'Cranbrook' which is more commonly known as the tune to Ilkley Moor Baht'at.
Opus 44 is a Bingley-based choir which was formed in 1984 and shortly after reached the quarter finals of the Sainsbury's Choir of the Year competition. They reached the same stage ten years later, and in more recent years won the choir challenge at five of the annual prestigious 'Mrs Sunderland Music Festivals' in Huddersfield.
Coun David Green, Bradford Council's Executive Member with responsibility for culture, said: "We would like anyone who works or lives in the city to come along to the service to celebrate Christmas. It is a lovely atmosphere in the cathedral and has become immensely popular over recent years."
The service will be led by the Very Revd David Ison, who said: "The city carol service brings everyone together to celebrate Christmas in a traditional way. We are very welcoming and want people to enjoy seeing this beautiful building and feeling part of a joyful event at this special time of year."
