Limber up for all new dance classes

Couples will be able to dance their way to good health at a new class in the New Year.

Bradford Council has organised two classes aimed at different levels of ability in Latin American and Ballroom dance that have been inspired by the popularity of the hit television show Strictly Come Dancing.

Couples who have never danced before can attend Strictly Beginners Ballroom, which will start at Victoria Hall in Keighley on Wednesday, 4 January 2012 from 7-8.15pm. Those with a little more experience can brush up their skills at Strictly Improvers Ballroom at the slightly later time slot of 8.30-9.45pm.

The six-week course will be limited initially to 20 couples so people of all ages and abilities are encouraged to book their places early.

The new classes will teach participants the Waltz, which works the upper body and core, Rumba, which works the abs and waist, and the Quickstep and Cha Cha Cha, which are great cardio workouts.

Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council's Executive Member responsible for Sport and Leisure, said: "These classes have been organised in response to the incredible popularity of those offered in Keighley earlier this year.

"They are all about having a fun, low impact workout and we hope they will continue to capture the imagination of people of all ages and abilities.”

Dance teachers Pauline and Darrell Smith are both professionally qualified and will use a soundtrack similar to Strictly Come Dancing.

The classes cost £5 per person, per session (pay up front £25 and receive one week free).

For further information or to book a place please contact Victoria Hall on 01535 681763. Entry on the night has to be made through the Leisure Centre in Keighley.
