Liftshare Week

Hard-pressed car commuters are being encouraged by Bradford Council to cut costs and help the environment by sharing their journey with others.

Monday, 3 October sees the start of Liftshare Week, when people are encouraged to give car sharing a try.

Drivers can save a fortune on fuel, make new friends and help cut the amount of damaging emissions being released into the atmosphere.

People can sign up for car sharing for free by using the website (wycarshare.com) where they can find someone else going their way.

You don’t even have to have a car, as many drivers are willing to carry some friendly company for a contribution to their fuel costs.

Coun David Green, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration and Economy, said: “There are many advantages to car sharing so I would recommend that commuters should give it a go.

“With the price of fuel so high and many worries about the environment, car sharing presents an ideal solution for everyone.”

According the www.wycarshare.com website, a driver making a typical 10-mile commute to Bradford and back five times a week could save more than £450-a-year by sharing the journey with three other people.
