Tickets are now available for Bingley Music Live, which is gearing up for its best year yet with a host of fantastic new attractions.
Now in its sixth year, there has already been a strong level of interest in the Bradford Council- run festival. 1,000 early bird weekend tickets sold out in record time and people are now being encouraged to act fast to avoid being disappointed.
The festival, which is becoming a red-letter event for northern music fans, will be held at Myrtle Park in Bingley from Friday, 31 August until Sunday, 2 September.
This year it will increase its commitment to promoting upcoming talent with a brand new stage dedicated to local bands. It will also offer the opportunity for two acts from secondary schools across the Bradford district to perform on stage via a battle of the bands competition.
Also new for 2012, Bingley Music Live has partnered up with Live and Unsigned, which is the country’s largest national music competition for unsigned acts to perform live. The contest’s champion will win a slot at the festival, along with a string of other live dates, and there are £100,000 worth of prizes to be won.
In addition, the festival’s popular second stage and family area, which were introduced last year, will be developed and there will be continuing opportunities for bands to perform via the Bingley Music Live Beckons battle of the bands competition.
Further information about all of these exciting developments will be available over the coming weeks, along with the announcement of the first round of top notch bands set to perform.
Tickets for the weekend, which cost £45 plus booking fee, are available on-line now with SeeTickets via the Bingley Music Live website www.bingleymusiclive.com. Tickets will be available from all the usual outlets in March.
Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council's Executive Member responsible for Leisure, said: "This year’s festival promises to be the best yet and it is testament to its growing reputation that 1,000 early bird weekend tickets sold out in record time.
"The first round of bands will be announced very soon, along with further details of what looks set to be another fantastic year for Bingley Music Live.”
Last year’s sell-out event attracted capacity crowds of 46,500 with a line-up consisting of such well-established acts as electronic production duo Chase and Status, alternative rockers Maximo Park, grime rapper Wretch 32 and pop sensation Eliza Doolittle. Previous bills have included Example, James, Seasick Steve, Public Image Ltd, Professor Green and the Charlatans.
