Fitness class snowballs in popularity
People who want to get fit can strengthen their core muscles with a popular class that is based on the principles of skiing.
The 45-minute snow fit class focuses on building up strength and flexibility in key muscle groups. It features leg strengthening exercises such as squats, lunges, bunny hops, and ball exercises.
It is being offered at the Bradford Council-run Nab Wood Sports Centre, Cottingley, each Monday between 5.45-6.30pm.
The class takes genuine training elements used by skiers and targets the lower body and core. It aims to increase hip and thigh strength, core stability and cardiovascular endurance through circuit based activity.
Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Sport and Leisure, said: "This class has proved to be very popular since it was launched at Nab Wood Sports Centre last November. It is a great way to keep fit and will appeal to people who want to try a fresh challenge in order to tone up their core muscles.”
The classes cost £5 per person (£3.75 for Passport to Leisure users). They are being offered as part of Bradford Council’s b active campaign, which encourages people to be active, healthy and to have fun.
