Conference discusses child poverty
Residents are invited to attend a half-day conference about child poverty.
The Annual Public Forum for Education Conference on the topic of ‘Child Poverty - Everybody’s Business’ will be held at Westbrook Hall, Westbrook Building, Bradford College, on Saturday, 12 November between 9am-12.30pm.
The event will be launched by Coun Ralph Berry, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Children’s Services, and there will be contributions from a range of adults and young people addressing the different aspects of child poverty. These include identifying the barriers and looking at ways in which they can be overcome.
Kath Tunstall, Strategic Director of Children’s Services, will also attend to respond to comments and Margaret Platts MBE, the Chair of PFE, will reflect on the impact of its work over the last year.
Coun Ralph Berry said: "This annual conference is an ideal opportunity for residents to have their voices heard about ways in which to tackle child poverty, and to help bring about change for children and young people in the district.”
Anyone interested in attending, particularly parents and young people, should contact Nazhat Iqbal on 01274 432337 or nazhat.iqbal@bradford.gov.uk
The Public Forum for Education holds "big conversations” throughout the year on topical issues in education. With an independent chair, Margaret Platts MBE, it enables everyone with an interest to contribute their views and the chance to work with Bradford Council in shaping education for the district.
