Church's prayers answered

A Church leader in Little Horton has praised the work of Bradford Council Wardens who answered his prayers to improve the area around the building.

The Chairman of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Little Horton Lane, Jovan Prica, contacted Bradford Council with his concerns about the state of the church's surroundings.

There were overflowing bins and other rubbish by the entrance and overgrown vegetation close to the building.

Council Wardens got to work with a clean-up of the area involving the church, the local community and the Council's clean team.

The surroundings were soon transformed prompting Mr Prica to contact the Bradford West Neighbourhood Office thanking the wardens, Zia Rehman and Anjum Munir, for their help.

Coun Imran Hussain said: "Keeping our communities clean and safe is a top priority and our wardens play a vital role in achieving that goal.

"We are always willing to work with local people to help improve the environment and clearly this kind of feedback is very satisfying and a testament to the good work of our staff.

"However we also have to drive the message home that people have a responsibility to play their part in keeping their neighbourhoods clean and tidy."
