A wide range of drop-in activity sessions for children and young people will run at the Leisure Centre in Keighley during the week before Christmas.
The Bradford Council-run venue has organised sports and craft activities during the school holidays to keep youngsters busy while their parents and carers do their festive shopping in peace.
Fitcraft sessions, which will offer arts and crafts alongside fun and games, will be held between Monday, 19 and Friday, 23 December. Aimed at children aged between four and twelve years old, they will run from 10am-12noon and will cost £3 per child, per session.
Youngsters will be able to join Football Frenzy sessions to learn new skills, take part in shoot-outs and small sided games. There will also be the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes. The sessions will run on Tuesday, 20 and Thursday, 22 December at 1.30-2.30pm (children aged between five and eight years old) and 2.30-3.30pm (children aged between nine and 13). They will cost £1.75 per child, per session.
Under 16s will also be able to attend drop-in sessions at the Special Junior Shokk Gym, which is an adult free zone. Young people will be able to use weights, treadmills, bikes and rowing machines while listening to music or watching television. The sessions will be held on Wednesday, 28 and Thursday, 29 December between 10am-2pm. They will cost £2.30 per child, per session.
Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council's Executive Member responsible for Sport and Leisure, said: "These drop-in sessions will keep children and young people active and entertained during the school holiday, while also giving parents and carers some free time in the build up to Christmas.”
All Bradford Council-run leisure centres and swimming pools will be closed between Saturday, 24 and Tuesday, 27 December. They will also be shut between New Year's Eve and Monday, 2 January 2012.
The swimming pool in the Leisure Centre, Keighley, will reopen following essential planned maintenance work on Wednesday, 28 December.
