A Message from the Lord Mayor, Councillor Naveeda Ikram
Lord Mayor's Appeal 2011-12
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal this year is raising funds for the Marie Curie Cancer Care Bradford Hospice and I hope that you are able to assist me in supporting this very worthy local cause and the valuable work they do.
Bradford people are warm-hearted and generous as has been proved over the years by the support given to the Civic Appeal by the people of the district. At the start of his term of office my predecessor celebrated the Lord Mayor’s Appeal raising one million pounds for local charities in ten years. This was a fantastic achievement, made possible by people from all walks of life working together, which is very much the theme I intend to adopt whilst fundraising for my own Lord Mayor’s Appeal. I hope to bring together businesses and voluntary groups, different cultures, young and old to share their skills and resources to raise money for my charity which benefits local people here in the Bradford District.
We will be organising events across the district, throughout the year and I hope that you will find something of interest that you would like to attend or get involved with. But I would also ask for your support in arranging events within your own community or organisation to fundraise on our behalf and if you would like me to come along to your event, just ask me, I’ll try to attend as many as I can.
