Appointing a Lord Mayor

The Lord Mayor is appointed in May each year at the annual meeting of Council and is one of the 90 members of Council.

The Lord Mayor is the "first citizen" of Bradford and officially represents the people of Bradford at hundreds of functions every year. Meetings of full Council are chaired by the Lord Mayor who can, like any chair, exercise a second or casting vote if the vote on a particular issue is tied.
