The Council's Workforce Profile

The Council is required by law to publish information regarding its employees relating to certain categories (known as Protected Characteristics) under the Equalities Act 2010.

So that the user can most easily find and understand the data presented, the Council has adopted a variety of display methods eg tables, graphs, text narrative as appropriate to the information. A wide variety of information can be accessed via the links below.

Information has been collected for a number of years on Race, Disability, Gender and Age, as was previously the requirement under the Race Relations Amendment Act. Therefore, the links will give a good range of information about these characteristics.

Information relating to Sexual Orientation, Pregnancy and Maternity and Religion and Belief has only been a requirement since Equalities Act came into force late in 2010. The Council is still considering and consulting on how best to collect meaningful data on its workforce profile and that of its service users against these types of protected characteristics.

Absence of data should not be taken to imply any lack of interest by the Council in the welfare of these groups; it has never previously been required to collect data about them. It is anticipated that in the future the Council will be able to publish data against these groups. However, currently there is only limited information available.

Requests for further employment related information should be sent to:
