Registering to Vote
The Electoral Services Office is responsible for:-
- The preparation and annual publication of the Electoral Register.
The Electoral Register is a list compiled by the Electoral Registration Officer of persons eligible to vote in elections within the district. The Electoral Registration Officer has a statutory duty to compile a revised register each year. The revised register is published on 1 December each year - Maintaining and up-dating the register during the year through the rolling registration process. Application forms for electoral registration can be obtained from the Electoral Services Unit
- Arrangements for reviews of the electoral arrangements for the district
- Arrangements for local elections (district and parish), national elections (parliamentary and European parliamentary) and referendums
- Maintaining the absent voters lists i.e. electors who choose to vote by post or through a proxy appointed to vote on their behalf
