Adults and young people from Bradford who have entered employment and education after overcoming barriers such as mental and physical disabilities are to be honoured at an awards evening.
Bradford Council’s Skills for Work service is hosting the event at City Hall to pay tribute to residents who have found work and gained qualifications in the face of obstacles such as ill-health or other barriers to employment.
The awards, on Wednesday, 5 October, will also acknowledge the input of local employers who have supported the programme by providing work placements and job opportunities.
Categories include Learner of the Year, Adult Apprentice of the Year and an Employer Recognition Award.
Coun David Green, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration and Economy, said: “The Skills for Work scheme provides entry points into work and education for hundreds of people every year.
“It will be great to see them honoured during this awards evening and it will be a fitting tribute to their hard work.
“Employers too deserve credit for supporting the programme and we’re always keen to hear from other businesses who want to take part.”
