BSF Phase 1
Plans for new schools across the District are taking shape following the successful opening of three new Secondary Schools: Buttershaw Business & Enterprise College, Tong High School and Titus Salt School. More than 4,000 pupils and staff are now in much-improved new accommodation in the three schools involved in the first stage of the Building Schools Project.
All three Phase 1 schools opened in September 2008 and were officially opened in May 2009 when Gerry Sutcliffe, MP, unveiled a plaque at each of the schools.
2 of the schools were judged to be in the top 6 nationally by the Times Educational Supplement, the only schools in the north of England to be shortlisted in the Outstanding, New or Refurbished School Award 2009 category.
