Ecowatch Lister Park, Bradford

Welcome to Lister Park Eco Study

(Ian Dobson Lister Park Ranger)

The whole idea of the study is to raise awareness of green space environments in inner city areas, how they support wildlife and why these green breathing spaces are important to the local communities.

Throughout the year we will be running field studies for schools on wildlife i.e. bird, mammal and insects posting photographs of sightings, nests and any off spring. Also the human impacted on this green space i.e. litter, vehicles, visitor numbers and how wildlife adapts to us. We would also like park visitors to get involved reporting sightings of different types of wild life or voice their opinion of the park by email lister.park@bradford.gov.uk or reporting direct to park staff as already happens.

We will be replacing old nest boxes and duck huts ready for the spring to encourage breeding in the park, we will have a nesting box live camera monitor set up awaiting the residents. Nest box workshops for schools and community groups will be organised to benefit bird life in other green space areas.

The website will be updated seasonally i.e. four times at the end of spring, summer, autumn, winter. The results, findings and schools which have been involved will be posted at the end of each season.

Most importantly we aim to get everyone on board to raise there green space awareness being involved with all aspects of the eco study making it a more interesting and hands on experience as well as been involved with website inputs.
