Deprivation
- According to the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) 2004, Bradford District has 93 SOAs that are ranked in the 10% most deprived SOAs nationally and 12 SOAs ranked in the 10% least deprived SOAs.
- The majority of the deprived SOAs are concentrated in Bradford city and to a lesser degree in Keighley town. Wharfedale has no SOAs that fall in the most deprived 20% in England but contains nine of the District’s twelve 10% least deprived SOAs. It also worth noting that the City of Bradford itself has no SOA ranked in the 20% least deprived SOAs in England.
- 204,000 people in Bradford, representing 44% of the district’s population, live in SOAs that are ranked in the 20% most deprived in England. The District ranks 31st out of the 354 Local Authority Districts in England on this measure. Bradford District previously ranked 42nd on the equivalent measure according to IMD 2000.
