Automated Switchboard
We are changing how incoming calls to our switchboard will be handled from early December 2011. The change will improve efficiency and make it easier and faster for you to get the information you want.
If you call our switchboard, instead of talking to an operator, you will speak to an automated system that recognises speech. You can say 'Operator' any time to speak to a switchboard operator, if you do not get through to the person or service you want to speak to.
The switchboard can be used when you know who you want to speak to, but don't know the number. The switchboard number is 01274 432111.
When you call the switchboard, you will be asked the name of the person or service you want to be connected to. As well as recognising Council officers' names, the system will connect callers to a range of services.
