The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is to be celebrated across the district with a series of special events and projects this year.
The Queen is celebrating the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne and community groups, schools, local businesses, faith groups and public sector organisations will be holding events to mark this very special occasion.
Bradford Council is working in partnership with the West Yorkshire Lieutenancy Office (the Queen’s representative in the county) to encourage communities to take part in the celebrations by organising their own projects and events.
It is very much hoped that the celebrations will bring out a real sense of local community spirit, reminiscent of the fun and vibrancy of the Silver Jubilee parties and events held in 1977.
A specially-extended Bank Holiday weekend from 2-5 June 2012 will act as a focal point, though celebrations and commemorative projects are being planned throughout the year.
You can see some of the events already planned on our calendar.
