Teenage boys from Bradford North have taken part in a gruelling army camp residential.
It was organised as part of Bradford Council's Extended Services East 2 Local Achievement, formerly the BD3 4ALL programme, in partnership with West Yorkshire Police and the Army.
Thirty-six boys signed up for the challenge at the Strensall Barracks in York which was also attended by three local police officers.
The group had a go at command tasks, five-a-side football and hockey, weapons presentation, obstacle course and drill sessions.
Coun Michael Kelly, the Council's Executive Member for Services to Children and Young People, said: "The residential was a fun and interesting way for the young men to learn new skills and boost their skills and confidence, while also improving community relations between themselves and the police.
"It was a rewarding experience for all and it may have helped encourage some of them to consider a career with the army or the police.
"This also fits in well with the district's b someone campaign which is about young people taking responsibility for their own future and reaching their goals."
The 14-19-year-olds who took part attend Carlton Bolling College, Challenge College, Hanson School and Tong School.
Tazeem Sawaiz, Extended Services Co-ordinator, said: "This activity was extremely well attended and it's something we would definitely be interested in running again.
"It is also a good example of partnership working which has yielded excellent results for these inner-city young people."
