A Bradford pupil is to be presented with £150 of vouchers after winning a prize draw at an education event.
Nafeesa Ahmed, a year-11 pupil at Belle Vue Girls' school, will be given her prize by Coun Michael Kelly, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Services to Children and Young People, at City Hall on Wednesday, 30 September, at 3.30pm.
The draw was held at the Bringing Learning to Life event earlier this year which was held to raise awareness of the learning options available to pupils aged 14-19 and focused particularly on the new range of Diplomas being offered to students from September this year.
Organised by Bradford Confederations, more than 1,200 young people and their families attended the event and, following its success, a further two will be held in Bradford and Keighley in November.
The sessions will also give students and parents the chance to find out about Young Apprenticeships, Apprenticeships and Foundation Learning.
Coun Kelly said: "Nafeesa was one of many students to benefit from the wide range of advice available for young people at the Bringing Learning to Life day.
"It also reflected the district's b someone campaign which is about to move into the second strand which has a special focus on young people and encourages them to take responsibility for their own educational achievement, with support from parents, teachers, training providers and employers.
"These qualifications will offer young people clear routes to university and directly into employment."
Diplomas, which are offered through partnerships of schools and colleges are available to Bradford students in Creative and Media; Hospitality; Hair and Beauty; Manufacture and Product Design; Environment and Land Based; Engineering; Construction and the Environment.
A further five subjects will be introduced in September 2010.
