The benefits of taking part in outdoor activities for children and young people in Bradford is the focus of a special learning fair.
Organised by Bradford Council's Learning Services and Education Bradford, the event will be held at Odsal Stadium on Friday, 27 March from 10am to 2pm.
There will be a presentation by Robin Hammerton, author of the Ofsted report called Outdoor Learning, How Far Should We Go?, and exhibitions about different activities, such as archery, cycling and a climbing wall which young people and adults will be invited to try out.
The event also supports the Council's b someone campaign which has dedicated 2009 as a year of education.
Coun Michael Kelly, the Council's Executive Member for Services to Children and Young People, said: "This is an excellent chance for teachers and school staff to learn about the diverse options available outside the classroom.
"Children and young people can gain so much from taking part in activities like orienteering and rock climbing - not only do they learn new skills but they also learn how to be a team player and tackle different challenges while also having fun and keeping fit.
"The b someone campaign is all about supporting young people and helping them to fulfil their potential and achieve, and the fair will help schools build on what they are already doing to expand pupils' learning experiences."
Jim Hughes, the Council's Educational Visits Adviser, said: "This is a high-profile opportunity for people to meet headteacher colleagues and lead partners in education and for them to share their ideas and knowledge.
"Visitors will also be able to hear and respond to the benefits of embedding outdoor learning within the ethos of the school life.
"Bradford has already signed up to the Government's Manifesto for Outdoor Learning as we recognise the major effect it can have on boosting pupils' overall success."
